Özet

Indoor air quality (IAQ) affects occupants’ health, comfort, and performance. Unlike conventional classrooms, interior architecture studios combine learning and production activities that may generate indoor pollutants. This study investigated IAQ in three interior architecture studios at Istanbul Kent University through environmental measurements and occupant surveys. Indoor air temperature, relative humidity, CO2, particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), and formaldehyde (HCHO) were monitored over two weeks during morning, midday, and afternoon sessions. The results showed temporal and spatial variations, with CO2, TVOC, and HCHO generally increasing throughout the day. However, higher pollutant concentrations did not consistently correspond to poorer occupant evaluations, indicating that perceived IAQ cannot be explained by environmental measurements alone. These findings contribute to the growing body of literature on IAQ in interior architecture studios.
